Inside the Pack: People of the Bible Set Perfect for This Time of Year
Yesterday was Easter, and we are currently in the middle of the Passover holiday. Folks who want to celebrate either of the two holidays by collecting cards have a great option: the 2012 Topps Allen and Ginter People of the Bible mini insert set.
One of the more unique sets from a product that never stops churning out interesting inserts, the 15-card People of the Bible set includes both Old and New Testament figures on miniature cards. A hobby-only insert, the cards are both not super common, and generally command more money than other similar insert sets do.
It should come as no surprise that the big name in the set is Jesus. Best as I can tell, Topps has never made another card of Jesus, though the research isn’t easy given the number of ball players with that name. Another popular card for this spring holiday season is Moses.
The images on the cards feature beautiful Renaissance- or stained-glass-style artwork of the biblical figures. If there’s one deficiency I can find with the cards, it’s that the backs contain a simple checklist for the set, rather than a description of the subject or, better yet, a note about where the image comes from.
If you’re looking for a beautiful and challenging insert set to complete this spring, I highly recommend you check out the 2012 Topps Allen and Ginter People of the Bible set.
