RIIP with Brody the Kid #12 Interview with Daniel Logan (Boba Fett)

Hey, what’s up everybody!? It’s Brody the Kid and I am back with another edition of Riiip with Brody the Kid! This month we have a lot to talk about, so let’s get to it!

The hunt for Zion is on…but is it worth it? I personally have not seen a Zion pulled from a box or case of Contenders Draft Picks Basketball yet. The retail blaster boxes get you 1 “auto” and I have seen some 2nd rounders, some undrafted guys and a lot of 150 Reward point cards being pulled. That being said though, if you hit a Zion, you could be rich!

On the football side, Panini Illusions is out. Illusions will deliver you 3 autos and 2 memorabilia cards. The product features many old-time greats, which I think is very cool. One of the autographs will be encased and usually low numbered. Many great legends and rookies are in this product and I think you would enjoy it very much.

Do you like shiny? Do you love color? Do you love on-card rookie autos? Well, Optic is almost here. Optic Football has very amazing color and some awesome Rated Rookie on-card autos. This is an awesome product that will be out soon.

What do you all do when you get one of those cool hits? Do you know how to protect your cards? At your LCS or online you can buy some penny sleeves. They are called that because you can get 100 for a dollar! You can keep your better cards in those and then buy some harder plastic holders called toploaders that those sleeves go into. There are different thicknesses of toploaders depending on the thickness of the card, so ask your LCS owner if they have a measuring card you can use. If you get a more expensive hit, you can also buy the magnetic one-touch holders and those are even better protection and look really nice. A good way to keep tabs of your favorite team or player cards is also to buy albums (or binders) and plastic sheets (or pages) that go into them. They can keep your cards safe and be fun and easy to look through! For your base cards or commons, you can always store those in some cardboard boxes that your LCS should have available and should be less than a dollar each. Happy sorting!

#TheGuyFromPawnStars.  Have you ever gotten an autograph authenticated? This will verify that your autograph is real, and it will help it with the value, if it is something you might want to sell. In September, I spent a day with Steve Grad, who is the Principal Authenticator for Beckett Authentication. You may know him from the TV show Pawn Stars on the History Channel! I worked with him for the day at Bergie’s Sports Card Dugout in Highland Park, Illinois. I was able to learn how he tells if an autograph is real and what they do if it is. I helped Steve to authenticate hundreds of autograph items, including an autographed machete from Friday the 13th, and a Roberto Clemente autograph. Steve even authenticated my autograph and registered it with Beckett. How cool is that? Stay tuned for a HUGE announcement from Steve and me…we are going to do something super cool!  Coming soon!

I am so excited for this month’s interview…I love Star Wars, so to be able to get a phone call with this guest, was AWESOME! I want to introduce Daniel Logan. Daniel is an actor, who played Boba Fett in the Star Wars: Attack of the Clones movie and in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. How cool is that?! Daniel has many Topps Star Wars cards and has done some autograph cards as well. I had the chance to ask Daniel a few questions and here were his responses. I hope you enjoy!

  1. Did you collect cards when you were a kid?
    Pokémon cards
  2. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and I love The Clone Wars… can you tell me what it’s like to be part of the Star Wars legacy?
“It’s an honor to be able to represent not only Star Wars but a character like Boba Fett and each time that I get to engage with fans it allows me to remember how truly blessed I am to be able to be part of something so spectacular.”

  3. What was your favorite scene to shoot in Attack of the Clones?
Probably the Kamino scene with Jango Fett in the rain.4. You had big dreams as a kid and followed them and landed a huge movie! What advice do you have for kids like me who have big dreams and passions at a young age?
The opportunity nowadays allows us to be able to create our own movies, characters through the internet, you tube and social media. What my advice is to find people and friends that are trying for the same hobby, dreams and passion and get with them as one of them can hold a camera another can hold the boom and hopefully a friend that can edit. You can post all of your projects and work to the internet and you never know nowadays who’s watching.

Huge thank you to Daniel Logan for his time! It is very much appreciated!
